Patron Supported Pattern + Surface Design
My love of surface design was ignited in the summer of 2017, in the mountains of North Carolina, at Penland School of Crafts. Since returning to Ohio, I am assembling the tools and supplies to continue printing yardage and fabric for sewn goods, thanks to my patrons who support me via Patreon.
Patron Powered Print Process Produces Pretty Pouches.
Thanks to the online platform Patreon, my patrons are able to support me directly with a monthly pledge towards this surface design adventure. In addition to my gratitude, most levels of patronage reward in tangible goods printed with the month's pattern and packed with care in parcels sent directly to your door.
A Partial Print Process Peek in Three Steps:
Step One: Create Design + Pattern
Ink and brush are my favorite tools for creating my designs.
My sketchbook inspiration is gathered while walking my rescue Charlie-Dog in our naturally lush backyard, often caught by the beauty of everyday plants commonly called "weeds."
Step Two: Burn Screens + Print
This is where my patrons are especially important in my print process. Monthly pledges fund the purchase of consumable supplies and vital screen-printing assets and tools.
One day we'll build a studio together. Until then, I'm thankful for access to a good-for-now shared space.
Step Three: Sew Awesome Goods
This I've been doing for almost a decade: working with canvas to design and make goods at the intersection of utility and beauty.
Previously sewn in plain canvas, my base designs are seeing massive transformations thanks to this patron print project.
Patrons receive limited edition, often One-of-a-Kind goods from an emerging design-house.
